Silks are one the most precious possessions of our closet. The fabric looks rich, luxurious and is even durable provided you support it with an effective and proper care. Here are some tips to care for your silks
Silk garments are generally dry washed. But, if you are planning to go for a hand wash make sure to check its compatibility by trying out with a tiny inconspicuous spot to verify whether the color is bleeding or not. It’s advisable not to soak your silk as these might fade the color off and shrink the cloth. Always use lukewarm or cold water while washing your silk.
The stains on silk can be best removed with a mixture of water plus hydrogen peroxide. If the garment gets yellow with time, use cold water blended with vinegar. Finally, never go for a steam setting while you iron and keep the temperature low while pressing on silk.
